2012 Toyota Prius v
The numbers are in and the hybrid car from Toyota was the number one sold vehicle across the state in 2012. It is no surprise to some the gas conscious, energy-saving Prius was the number one car picked by residents. People worry now more than ever about saving money and cutting down on costs where they can. When it comes to fuel consumption and taking fewer trips to the pump, the Toyota Prius sets a high bar. Drivers can save hundreds a year with this car.
The LA Times released some information in an article published in October laying out the figures of automobile purchases. “The Toyota Prius beat out all other cars, trucks and sport-utility vehicles to be the best selling passenger vehicle of any type in California through the first nine months of this year.
Toyota sold 46,380 of the hybrids in the Golden State, according to a report from AutoCount, the car data division of Experian Co., and the California New Car Dealers Assn.”
The number is high, so high in fact; it represents a quarter of the total sales in the United States for the Prius. Sales for automobiles in general have climbed steadily in the state, up 26.3%, compared with 14.5% nationwide. More cars sold means more cars on the road.
“Toyota, along with its Lexus and Scion brands, dominates the California market, selling 21% of the vehicles registered in the state through September. Honda is second at 12.4%. General Motors and Ford were tied at 11.5% Nissan followed with 8.4%. The sister Hyundai and Kia brands from South Korea accounted for 8.4% of sales, and Chrysler had 6.9%.”
